Rapper HoodyBaby been charged over an alleged assault at a London nightclub back in 2023, just two days after R&B star Chris Brown was arrested in connection with the same incident.
HoodyBaby, whose real name is Omololu Akinlolu, is facing a charge of grievous bodily harm with intent, according to London’s Metropolitan Police Department.
He was to due to appear Saturday at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, where Brown made his initial appearance on Friday after being hit with the same charge as his frequent collaborator.
A judge rejected Brown’s request for bail and ordered be held until his next hearing on June 13 — the same day he’s scheduled to take the stage in Frankfurt as part of his Breezy Bowl XX world tour.
He’s also slated to perform in Amsterdam on June 8, before heading to Germany then journeying across the U.K., but his legal woes have left the future of his tour in limbo.
Brown’s case has since been transferred to Southwark Crown Court in London, where he’s expected to enter a plea.
The charge against him stems from an incident on Feb. 19, 2023 at the Tape club in London. He’s accused of repeatedly striking music producer Abe Diaw over the head with a bottle of tequila, which police say was caught on surveillance video in front of a club full of people.
In court on Friday, prosecutors said the R&B singer — who has a history of assault arrests — also punched and repeatedly kicked Diaw during the “unprovoked attack.”
Diaw reportedly filed a civil suit seeking damages for the injuries he suffered in the alleged assault, claiming he was knocked unconscious and stomped on as he was passed out on the floor.
